Civil Marriage Ceremony
We are delighted to be able to offer the facility for you to exchange vows at the Calf’s Head. Situated at the foot of Pendle Hill with vast gardens and grounds encompassing a tranquil stream this is the dream location for many couples. You can tie the knot in the large glass house to the rear overlooking Pendle Hill, in the Worston room ideal for smaller parties looking for an intimate occasion or finally in the Garden Gazebo.

Please note outdoor ceremonies in the Gazebo are not permitted during winter months and inclement weather conditions will require the ceremony to be held inside the main building.

No wedding is too small and we are happy to host from four to eighty guests for your ceremony. The venue offers a photographer’s paradise with extensive grounds including a Gazebo, Wooden Bridge over the stream and the backdrop of Pendle hill to provide your keepsake photographs with the “wow” factor.

Only a civil, non-religious ceremony can be permitted by the Superintendent registrar. The content of the Civil marriage ceremony must be agreed in advance with the Superintendent Registrar who will be attending the wedding ceremony.

It is a stipulation of the law that no food or drink may be consumed in the areas immediately preceding to or during the Civil Wedding Ceremony and smoking is not permitted prior to or during the Civil Marriage Ceremony.

The Registrar’s office will charge you an attendance fee; this is separate to any amounts chargeable by the Calf's Head and must be paid direct to the Registry Office and not through the Calf's Head.

It is the responsibility of the couple to ensure all legal preliminaries to your Civil Marriage Ceremony are completed and that the Superintendent Registrar is booked to conduct your Civil Marriage Ceremony. We will do all we can to assist but the arrangement and payment of the Superintendent Registrar remain solely the responsibility of the happy couple.

Our venue can be booked in advance subject to availability and a non-refundable deposit being paid. A Civil Marriage Ceremony can be booked with the Superintendent Registrar up to one year in advance. We impose no restrictions on the time of day a Civil Marriage Ceremony takes place and will structure your day around the time you choose with the Superintendent Registrar. Please contact our local office on 0845 053 0021 asking to speak with reference to a venue in the Clitheroe district.

Please note that we would not host a wedding reception on any Sunday or Bank Holiday Mondays and provisional bookings must be confirmed with a non-refundable deposit within 21 days to secure your chosen date.
